Joann Woodburn received her Masters in Social Work from Howard University in Washington, D.C., and completed her internship in Europe, where she developed programs for International Social Service in Frankfurt, Germany.
In addition to her work at Milestones, Joann was Program Director for the Avalon Program, a dual diagnosis facility for adolescents, and Director of Social Work at Woodview Calabasas Hospital, assisting adults and adolescents. She was also Case Manager for the Geriatric Psychology Departments at Encino and Sherman Oaks Hospital. In 2000, Joann received the Clinician of the Year Award for the western region from Horizon Health Corporation, a prominent national health organization.
Joann believes that, “Understanding and accepting an individual in total is the key to developing trust…and trust is the key to guiding an individual along his/her path to recovery.”
